Lunar New Year Pineapple Buns

Happy Lunar New Year!

This year, I made pineapple buns to celebrate!🧧

Custard filled bolo bao 菠萝包 is one of my favorite desserts and dim sum items so I finally decided to try making it! I followed the recipe from Elias Family Kitchen’s YouTube channel, with some improvising.


Next time, I’ll definitely make sure to use a hand mixer and remember that sugar isn’t considered a dry ingredient 😂

For some reason the dough did not rise a lot either so will use warmer water to activate the yeast as well.


It took around 4-5 hours for this first attempt but so happy with the result!


Pro tip: Pop the leftover buns in the microwave or toaster for 20 secs for that fresh baked taste ☺️
