I’m taking a break from all the food to share some local coffee shops in Austin!
1. Halcyon
Halcyon’s downtown location had such a chill vibe! They are open from 8 AM-2 AM and this versatile coffee bar also hosts concerts and different events.

They offer extensive indoor seating and even outdoor seating.

They also have an extensive list of drinks to choose from, including Vietnamese coffee and tea! I got a Vietnamese coffee and it was super tasty with the perfect splash of sweetness to give me energy to beat the afternoon crash.

I would definitely go back to enjoy their happy hour next time!

2. Houndstooth Coffee
Houndstooth is also a great choice for locally sourced coffee! Their name comes from a Scottish legend with houndstooth being one of the first simple plaid patterns that defined regional identities for people of Scotland. It symbolizes their desire for their coffee to become a source of identity celebration as well!

My barista recommended me the House Americano ($3.85) and it was a solid choice! It was very smooth and I like how there was just a little layer of ice (it was the tiny kind too, not the chunks) so it did not get watery over time. If you like the taste of their beans, you can grab a bag of their Tweed coffee!

The barista was very friendly and the atmosphere was calm. There was plenty of indoor seating and it was pretty quiet during the day so it would be a great place to get some work done. I was grateful for the cool oasis from the Austin heat!

They also offered a variety of other bottled drinks and sandwiches that you can carry out as well.

Some Houndstooth locations also serve alcohol, so you can satisfy all of your drinking needs!
